Inspiration

In the Toronto Raptors NBA Championship season, Kyle Lowry went through a shooting slump and the coaching staff was unsure what caused this slump. However, with the help of developments in the analytics field, the coaching staff employed a program that tracks the shots of players during shoot arounds and there the Raptors staff noticed that Kyle Lowry was shooting with an arc 5 degrees less than he typically does and after a few days of practice and emphasis on Lowry's shot arc, he was back on track shooting as he normally does. This information is paraphrased from Nick Nurse's book and it shows the potential analytics have in a basketball program.

What it does

Tracks player’s joints shooting as well as the ball.

How we built it

Using lots of Pandas as well as Mediapipe and opencv

Challenges we ran into

Couldn’t finish; integrating coordinate systems; Dealing with frame rate

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The tracking actually works!

What we learned

How to do motion tracking

What's next for Motion Tracking Shooters

Ill say in the presentation but I might run it professionally
