Inspiration
Vida Abedi, Ariana's mother, founded the nonprofit "Mothers on the Move" (MOM). Mothers on the Move (MOM) is a community-based wellness initiative in Central Pennsylvania that brings mothers of young children and their support partners together through dance, music, and friendship. We wanted to create a website that combines all the important information about MOM in one place, making it easier for families to learn about the organization, find resources, and get involved.
What it does
The website serves as a main hub for Mothers on the Move. It introduces visitors to MOM’s mission, shares information about its programs and community, and helps people find ways to participate and support the organization. By organizing everything in one accessible place, the website makes it easier for mothers and families to connect with the community.
How we built it
We built the website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
While coding the dance studio, we discovered that the animations of the different dance styles would be difficult to complete on the website in the time we had, so we just had the figures do simple movements instead of each specific dance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the layout of our website, the way we were able to get a calendar with the events, and our attempts at JavaScript for the dance studio.
What we learned
We learned that planning and organizing information is important when creating a website for a real organization. We improved our problem solving skills by finding simpler solutions when certain features were too difficult to complete in the time we had.
What's next for Mother's on the Move (MOM)
In the future, we hope the website can continue to grow with the organization. We would like to add more information about upcoming events and programs, improve the dance studio with more realistic dance animations, and keep the calendar updated.
