Inspiration

After finishing high school last year we moved to Maboneng to build a software service company. Through this experience we met a lot of creative people who happened to be business owners. We quickly found out the struggles they faced in growing their businesses. There were no services that allowed them to set up a store, easily find buyers and even worse had a local context to it.

What it does

Through the Ayoba microapp we can provide merchants with a self service ecommerce platform. Alllowing them to showcase and sell their products to any one of Ayoba's users, who happened to be in major African coutries.

How I built it

The microapp was built with react, this allowed us to build a mobile strong application with benefits of web technologies. The data was recieved from cached storage, which accounts for the faster load speed and gives us the opportunity to better sell our idea.

Challenges I ran into

All the challenges we came across were technical ones, although we did spend a lot of time on design the UI for mobile

All the challenges that we have come across were mostly technical ones, although we did spend a lot of time on the UI design of our mobile screen sized version of our application.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The effort we as a team put in the overall look and fell the app.

What I learned

Time management, I think my partner and I found it difficult not to obsess on small design features that we did not have enough time to perfect our sales pitch.

What's next for Moss Africa

With the mobile view of the platform already designed, we plan to now concentrate on the data aspect and getting that right for when we go for testing. Otherwise I think even if we do not go through we would love to use the Microapp api, if made public to developers. As we had come up with a lot of exciting ideas and use cases.
