Text messaging is the most utilized channel on the mobile phone and research shows over 90% of text messages are read within the first 10 minutes of receipt.
As patient's lives become increasingly mobile across all age demographics, mobile messaging is the perfect medium for efficient, personalized communications within a clinical trial. Further, text messaging capabilities exist on 99% of all mobile phones being sold today, making the technology usable by every patient, not just those with smart phones.
Currently available in 22 countries, Mosio's Patient Engagement Platform utilizes two-way text messaging to benefit both clinical trial patients and researchers through 4 key components:
- Appointment Reminders
- Storyline Alerts
- Surveys
- Predictive Analytics
All features work in sync to deliver alerts and reminders to patient mobile phones in line with their busy lifestyles, while enabling clinical trial managers and coordinators an efficient way to schedule messages and measure patient engagement during the life of the study.
Appointment Reminders: "Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language." -Dale Carnegie
Mosio's appointment reminders let you add a "firstname" to every appointment reminder, adding a human and personal element to the text message. Real-time notifications alert coordinators when a patient replies "No" to an appointment confirmation and their behavior is noted as a data point in our Predictive Analytics algorithm.
Storyline Alerts: This new feature gives researchers the ability to pre-schedule a series of linear messages that can send a variety of different types of content, including compliance and dosing reminders, patient education, support and motivation as well as the delivery of surveys. Storyline alerts give researchers the flexibility to add whatever content they like, then start a patient when they enroll them.
Surveys: Mosio's survey module makes it easy to design and deploy text message surveys with every type of survey question, from Y/N, 1-10, A-E or Free Response questions. The system also ties into our Predictive Analytics technology, which can be configured based on study-specific elements when measuring engagement.
Predictive Analytics: Measuring a specific set of data points across the other features, the Predictive Analytics dashboard gives coordinators a quick view of current patient engagement levels based on their behavior within the system. It lets them know who to reach out to so any issues or confusion can be taken care of as soon as possible. A higher level dashboard for Clinical Trial Managers/Leads provides an overview of engagement at each site, while maintaining the privacy of the enrolled patient.
IRB and Protocol Consistency: Once messaging and content has been IRB-approved, the system can be "locked" so messages stay consistent within the parameters of the study protocol.
Mosio's Patient Engagement Platform is configured to each study's specific needs and is easy to use by both staff (using the web-based dashboard) and patients (using the text messaging function on their mobile phones).
