Inspiration
A lack of web apps that have a wide variety of ways to translate Morse Code to and from English. We wanted to create an application that provides the widest possible array of translation methods in order to streamline translation, and potentially help people learn how to use Morse Code
What it does
Provides a large number of ways to translate Morse Code. These include:
**Taking Morse Code to translate to English input via text, audio, .txt files, and tapping
** Output English translations via text, audio, or a .txt file
**Taking in English to translate to Morse Code input via text, speech, and .txt files
**Output Morse Code translations via text, audio, vibrations (mobile only), and .txt files
How we built it
We built this on a React Framework, and hosted with Firebase
Challenges we ran into
The fact the Morse Code has variable lengths for different characters led to some translation difficulties. Additionally, getting some of the translation modules to mesh together led to some difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a super clean UI and finishing all of the translation features we set out to accomplish. Additionally, the demo video provides Oscar worthy entertainment.
What we learned
We greatly increased our skill with React, website hosting, and many js modules
What's next for Morssey
We want to use Google Cloud's translation API's in order to increase TTS and STT, and add the ability to translate to and from languages other than English
