The need for silent and secure communication in military and emergency operations, where traditional communications can be intercepted or fail completely.
What it does
Transforms any smartphone into a professional military Morse communication system, enabling LED flashlight transmission and AI-powered optical reception through camera recognition.
How I built it
Developed a PWA using React and TypeScript, implementing real-time image processing algorithms, camera/flashlight hardware control, and an interactive training system with 5 progressive levels.
Challenges I ran into
Flashlight control compatibility across different mobile devices, optimizing optical recognition under variable lighting conditions, and achieving precise timing synchronization for Morse code transmission.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Creating the first fully functional browser-based optical Morse communication system, with 100% local processing, professional military interface, and integrated training capabilities.
What I learned
Advanced real-time image processing techniques, mobile hardware API management, performance optimization for mission-critical applications, and interface design for use in adverse conditions.
What's next for Morse Communicator
Implement direct P2P communication between devices, add support for advanced military codes, integrate with GPS systems for coordinates, and develop specialized versions for different security forces.
