Inspiration

This project has gone VIRAL on TikTok with OVER 100 THOUSAND views since it's been submitted. I have 1.2M followers on TikTok and during a live stream with thousands of viewers I asked my audience what I should build for this competition. After brainstorming for a little bit, I came up with the idea for Morning Memories.

Alzheimer's affects over 55 million people over the age of 55. With nearly 10 million new cases in the US every year, Morning Memories helps people living with Alzheimers get their day started. Mornings are tough for anyone with Alzheimers. It's common for them not to remember where they are, how old they are, what is the date, etc. This leaves loved ones and care takers the responsibility of answering the same questions every single day.

What it does

Morning Memories helps people suffering from memory loss get their day started by asking questions and reminding individuals about key aspects of their life. Morning Memories tracks which questions about an individual were remembered and which were not. This information is valuable in understanding the progression of memory loss and can be used to better prescribe treatment.

How we built it

I built an iOS application in swift and a hosted Alexa Skill with dynamo DB and two lambda functions.

I posted a TikToK Video about the project and over 20K people watched it my demo video. Thousands of people liked and commented. Here are some of the comments that stood out to me.

The impact this product will impact millions of people. I am proud that a product I built will bring joy to so many people.

What's next for Morning Memories

Thousands of people have see Morning Memories on TikTok and people are signing up for the launch of the skill. I will release the mobile app once the Alexa Skill is approved.
