More Than

Inspiration

The inspiration for this music video came from my own personal journey toward self-acceptance. I've always used songwriting as a therapeutic tool, and this song was written as a way for me to process that journey. After creating an AI cover of it from my own recording in SUNO, I was so inspired by the result that I decided to create a full music video for it.

How I made it

I used Midjourney to generate both the images and videos from those images. Their new V1 video generation model had just been released, and I was excited to test it out with this project. For the music, I wrote and recorded the song myself, and then used my recording and lyrics to generate an AI cover of it in SUNO. I then used an AI mastering tool called Landr to master the song so that it sounded as good as possible.

Challenges I ran into

I needed a lot of video material to fill the song, and I wanted a way to visually separate the verses and choruses. I came up with the idea of the main character "transforming" into a phoenix to symbolize inner strength and resilience. This allowed me to create a video of the character summoning a great and majestic phoenix, which I used repeatedly throughout the music video to establish a consistent visual structure.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm most proud of the emotional message of self-acceptance that I believe I captured in this music video. The feedback I've already received confirms that the message resonates with people. It is a message that is close to my heart, and I hope it will continue to touch others as well.

What I earned

I learned that while it's often a great idea to plan a project in detail to save time, having an idea that you are truly passionate about can put you into a flow state where the best creative work is born. This project was very much that kind of process for me, and I hope to learn to balance these two creative "modes" more effectively in the future.

What's next for More Than

This competition is the next step for this project. Should my work be nominated, I plan to take my AI filmmaking journey even more seriously, and continue creating beautiful and emotionally resonant AI short films or music videos, hopefully getting better with each release.
