Inspiration

We know mornings set the mood for the rest of the day. When the world was sent into a whirlwind of uncertainty with Covid-19, we found ourselves struggling to keep a healthy routine and to find the motivation to complete the things we wanted to do. Initially, the idea for (More)ning came from Tabitha wanting a hairwashing tracker to exist. She wanted to be able to keep track of when she washed her hair so she could plan in advance. Soon this offhand suggestion had evolved into a "Get Ready With Me" themed app, which eventually became (More)ning. We knew we wanted to create an app that keeps users accountable and empowers them to have confidence from the moment they wake up.

(More)ning gives users the ability to get a preview of their day without feeling overwhelmed. It was designed with a "one day at a time" mentality in mind so that our sleek and easy UI help make a user's tasks appear doable. You can plan up to

How we built it

(More)ning was built using React Native and SQLite (soon!). We also used Expo to run and test.

Challenges we ran into

  • Creating a to-do list
  • Integrating SQLite
  • Getting a light/dark mode to work
  • Learning React Native quickly
  • Using custom fonts

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of learning to use React Native very quickly, as well as SQLite. We're also proud of the fact that we persevered through all our challenges and actively sought out solutions to our problems. We pored over StackOverflow and online written or video tutorials to learn. We also managed to find time to bond as a team and had our own impromptu Karaoke party (and two orders of UberEats).
