Inspiration
We were inspired by the 80s genre arcade games from the old school times when we didn't even exist. We thought of this as a throwback to some of the origins of video games.
What it does
It's a 2D shoot-em-up genre type game in which you
How we built it
We built it in NetLogo, a tool we used quite a bit in our sophomore year for computer science. But one of the aspects of NetLogo that struck us was its limitations with possible projects. In carrying out our idea, we wanted to test its limits with a project like a game with vast possibilities.
Challenges we ran into
Experience gaps between members.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managing to manage our time efficiently and finish this extremely overambitious project in such a small timeframe.
What we learned
How to work as a team efficiently and effectively. Learning Java/more Java.
What's next for The Final Frontier
Porting this idea to a platform with less limitations and more facilities to improve. On the other hand, we also brainstormed ideas on how to improve the optimization of the game within NetLogo, a philosophy in which, "it's the driver, not the car that's the problem."
We worked very hard on this over the past few hours and we really hope that you enjoy it.
