Inspiration
We would like to help people with their mental health by making a journal app that will help them to analyze trends with their emotions.
What it does
MOONote is an application that helps you track your mood by learning from your journal entries to determine your relative mood throughout the month. With MOONote you will be able to find out trends in your mood based on location, time, and date.
How we built it
This application was fully built using Android Studio. We used the Google Natural Languages API to analyze the journal entries to determine the general mood of which it was written. We also use the Google Maps SDK to determine the relative location of where the entry was written, to see if where you are plays a role in determining your mood.
Challenges we ran into
At the time, I'm (Yathavan) writing this so I'll just start with the challenges I personally faced. While it wasn't my first time using Android Studio, I learned pretty quickly that I was nowhere near ready to jump into 48+ hours of pure Android Studio with only 2 classes on the subject behind me. I'd say the biggest hurdle (for me) was getting the Google Maps SDK to work with the rest of the code. Beyond that, the biggest hurdle for me was getting past the shock of a hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
Android Studio, Google Maps SDK, MPAndroidCharts
