Inspiration
As a kid, Annabelle grew up in a low income community with limited resources to help with education. As a result, she did not really feel adequately prepared stepping up to the plate when pursuing computer science and STEM in college. With this, we wanted to be able to give kids of similar backgrounds the opportunity to find such resources.
What it does
moonMath! Games is an interactive website that provides games to strengthen STEM related skills such as math as well as provide a hub of resources for STEM topics such as space.
How we built it
Collaborating on replit, we coded the website using JavasScript,CSS, and HTML. As well as that, we designed the various icons, buttons, and logos on canva.com.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled getting the Moon Challenge game without our program to function properly. As well as that, we were lost on how to upload our website on our domain.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the cohesiveness and easy navigation of our website's design.
What we learned
Neither of us knew much about JavaScript so this project helped strengthen our foundational knowledge on the programming language. As well as that, we stepped into the principle of game design, ever so slightly. Last, we learned where to start uploading a website to a domain.
What's next for moonMath! Games
Although we did not finish, we plan to work on this again to fix the up the Moon Challenge game, add more games, and touch up the support page. On top of that we will then upload the files onto a domain to be used by others. When it is all working, we hope to pitch the website to our surrounding community.
