Inspiration

Moon Fox: Realm One was inspired by my vision of creating a welcoming fantasy adventure where exploration, progression, and meaningful choices encourage players to discover new realms, unlock rewards, and build connections through cooperative play.

What I Learned

As a solo creator, I strengthened my skills in foundational game design and production pipeline management. I learned how to translate raw mechanics into structured, interdependent systems, map out actionable testing and validation gates, and write professional design documentation. This hackathon challenged me to think beyond individual cosmetic features and focus entirely on the complete, end-to-end player experience—proving that a well-architected design document is the true backbone of any successful game.

How I Built It

For this competition, I developed a comprehensive pre-production design package consisting of four synchronized development artifacts: a robust Game Design Document (GDD), an actionable 4-Phase Production Plan, an environmental Player Journey Map, and a comprehensive Visual Concept Package. The entire architecture was informed by my hands-on exploration of the Meta Horizon Worlds ecosystem, allowing me to align my visual mockups and core gameplay logic with the platform's unique strengths in avatar expression and social interaction.

Challenges

One of my greatest challenges was transforming a broad creative vision into a tightly scoped, production-ready plan while learning new design methodologies on the fly. Managing development dependencies meant making mature project management decisions —such as deferring a database-driven interactive inventory closet to a Post-MVP backlog. Navigating sudden computer and hardware transitions required me to pivot my workflow, focusing heavily on rigorous algorithmic game design to multiply my content's lifespan through a 5x5 Character-Specific Progression Matrix instead of inflating my asset budget.
