Inspiration
🎼— Upon getting to know each other, one of the ultimate things we all bonded over was music. We knew at this point, we wanted to spiral into creating a project that would allow for music lovers around the world to enjoy. Different webapps such as Receiptify and Obscurify satisfy the curiosity of analyzing one's music taste, and we wanted to take our own twist on this concept.
What it does
😁— MoodyOrange helps users sort through their feelings. When the user identifies their mood, the extension will change color and play a song associated with the mood.
How we built it
🌿— MoodyOrange is a Google Chrome extension that uses Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap4 framework. When the user clicks on the extension, they will see a popup with emojis prompting them to click on one. Each emoji has an associated color and song url that is stored in Chrome's local browser storage. Once a user clicks on an emoji, the program indicates that the emoji is active and fetches user data for that emoji from the local storage. These data attributes (popup color, and associated song url) are then parsed via JavaScript. Using DOM manipulation, the HTML is updated to show the new song and the new color of the active emoji.
Why Orange?
🍊— Orange is the default color of one of the happier moods on our extension!
