I created MoodMate inspired by a close friend I deeply care about. During college, my best friend went through a silent battle with depression — the kind where they wore a smile outside but felt lost inside. They never felt comfortable talking to anyone, including me, even though I was right there. One day they told me:
“I wish I had someone who could just listen without judging me… even if it was just a chatbot.”
That stuck with me.
I realized that for many people — students, remote workers, solo travelers — journaling could be a lifeline. But most mental health tools are either too cold or clinical. I wanted to build something warm, friendly, and easy to stick with — like a digital friend that checks in every day and says, “Hey, it’s okay. You’ve got this.”
That’s what MoodMate is for.
Problem Solved:
People are overwhelmed but lack safe, non-judgmental spaces to express how they feel.
They also struggle with consistency in self-care and mental check-ins.
MoodMate makes this process gentle, gamified, and AI-supported, so anyone can start journaling — even when they feel too exhausted to open up to another person.
