Inspiration

In a world overflowing with content, I often found myself endlessly scrolling just to find something that matched my mood especially when I needed a boost. That’s when the idea of Moodly was born a platform that delivers AI-powered, mood-based short videos to help people feel better, faster.

For now, I started with a simple goal: Build a different moods content feed platform that’s easy to access and good for the mind.

What it does

Moodly is a web-based platform that: - Delivers short, motivational videos - Has a clean and responsive UI (built on Bolt.new) - Lets users log in, browse content, and get inspired instantly

In the future, Moodly will:

  • Use AI to detect user mood (via text/speech)
  • Auto-recommend videos based on emotional state
  • Serve content for moods like happy, sad, burned out, stressed, etc.

How I built it

  • Frontend: Designed using Bolt.new, React + TailwindCSS
  • Backend: Built in Node.js (with Express)
  • Authentication: JWT-based secure login system
  • Motivational video content: Uploaded manually for MVP
  • Hosting: Frontend deployed on Vercel and backend is deployed on Render

Challenges we ran into

  • AI mood detection was planned but is pending — I’ve scoped it clearly for the next phase
  • Managing UI speed + backend auth sync while working solo under time pressure

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Designed and deployed the entire frontend using Bolt.new
  • Built a working auth system with JWT in Node.js within a tight deadline
  • Created a clean and minimal user interface inspired by emotion-based UX

What we learned

  • How to rapidly build and style frontend layouts using Bolt.new
  • Managing component-based UI in React effectively
  • Building an end-to-end authentication flow using Node.js and JWT
  • How to plan and present a hackathon MVP in a limited timeframe

What's next for Moodly

  • Use AI to detect user mood (via text/speech)
  • Auto-recommend videos based on emotional state
  • Serve content for moods like happy, sad, burned out, stressed, etc.
  • Want to make Moodly helpful for others to feel good and motivated
  • Want to create a one section where different group of random persons can share there stress, thoughts or mood by choosing Highly rated persons or Mentors

Built With

  • mern
  • render
  • vercel
