Inspiration
As a student, I’ve experienced how mental health can impact focus, energy, and daily life. During tough times, I wished there was one place that felt safe, calming, and emotionally supportive, so I tried building one.
What it does
MoodLift is a prototype for a personal mental wellness toolkit. It combines experimental ideas like:
- A Safe Space to write and reflect freely
- Breathing exercises to calm anxiety
- A Gratitude & Goals area for positive habit building
- A Vibe Room that recommends music based on your mood, favorite artists, and voice input.
How I built it
I developed everything solo using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It integrates free APIs, speech recognition, audio visualization, and custom UI/UX.
Challenges I ran into
Designing something that feels human was the hardest part. It took time to get the right balance between features, mood-based feedback, and a warm, non-robotic user experience.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building a fully working prototype on my own that combines emotion, tech, and care. It’s more than an app, it’s a tool that could help real people on tough days.
What I learned
I learned how emotional design matters just as much as technical skills. I also learned how even a solo student can create something meaningful by focusing on empathy.
What's next for MoodLift
MoodLift will grow. I plan to add AI mood detection, journaling insights, and expand accessibility, so everyone can carry their calm in their pocket.
