Instagram Post 1: Mental Health Fact
Inspiration
We were inspired by personal experiences with mental health apps. A lot of us had seen the previously made apps as stepping stones, rather than competition. Most apps act as a journal or a simply a place for someone to vent. Other apps had meditation features. A lot of these features together helped create Moodify and that inspiration can still be seen in the app right now!
What it does
Our app provides a variety of mental health resources, all in one place. These resources include, but are not limited to, guided meditation, a list of nearby activities, emotion management strategies, music and immediate support from professionals.
How we built it
We made a functioning prototype in Marvel app by using our rough drafts made in Balsamiq Cloud. Using the rough Drafts ideas and concepts were taken and used to modify it into the app that it is today.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we had encountered was attempting to set our app apart from all others alike it. Mental health awareness has become much more normalized, and with doing so, many apps were created. We attempted to solve similar problems in the mental health world, but we were also required to ensure our app was not like all the others.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud of our final products, as most of us had no experience with creating or developing anything similar to what we had produced. This has been a greta learning experience for the entire team, and looking back at all the work we were able to complete really gives us all something to feel accomplished about.
What we learned
We learned how to make our own Alexa/home assistant applications for us to use at home. Furthermore, we learned about the marvel app features, abilities and overall where people can design and create various applications. As a team we learned many useful skills such as collaboration, prioritization, organization and effective communication skills.
What's next for Moodify
In the future Moodify will conduct much more extensive research regarding user experience, therefore we can develop new innovative features which are beneficial and requested by our customers. Moodify is dedicated to providing preeminent and convenient mental health resources which is why we would reach out to mental health organizations. This way we will gain first hand insight on the needs in mental health services and learn about the assistance these organizations provide. Moodify hopes to better promotional and marketing strategies by improving our current platforms and seek more partnerships where the organizations are mutually benefiting. We hope to grow the success of Moodify by increasing our recurring users and encourage more users to upgrade for our premium account option for a monthly fee of $1.99.
