Inspiration
We wanted to create an app that not only helps improve mood but also offers a practical solution for finding healthy meals nearby. By combining location-based recommendations with mood-driven suggestions, moodeats was born—aiming to reduce stress and provide a personalized dining experience.
What it does
moodeats is a web app that helps users find nearby restaurants based on their mood and location. By selecting your mood, moodeats generates relevant categories, allowing you to explore food options that suit how you're feeling. It takes the guesswork out of meal decisions and makes dining a more intuitive experience.
How we built it
We built the frontend using React, with Python and Flask serving as the backend to connect to APIs. For mood analysis and generating food recommendations, we leveraged generative AI to ensure the app adapts to individual needs.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring smooth integration between the frontend, backend, and external APIs. We had to manage real-time API requests efficiently while keeping the app responsive.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrated location-based APIs with mood-driven recommendations
- Built a fully functional web app with React, Python, and Flask
- Delivered a seamless user experience that makes restaurant hunting easy
What we learned
- Enhanced skills in integrating different technologies (React, Python, Flask)
- Gained a deeper understanding of working with APIs and real-time data
- Improved problem-solving and teamwork under tight deadlines
What's next for moodeats
Next, we plan to patch up the UI for a smoother user experience and launch the app live. This will allow users to seamlessly input their mood and location and discover healthy food options nearby.
