Inspiration

We wanted to create a safe, creative space for people—especially students—to express emotions without using words. Art is powerful, and combining it with AI helps bring emotional awareness in a fun way.

What it does

MoodCraft lets users draw freely on a digital canvas. As they draw, the app detects their mood using AI based on color choices and stroke patterns. It then shows a mood summary, suggests calming tips, and allows users to save or anonymously share their artwork. A daily mood check-in feature also helps track emotional wellness over time.

How we built it

We built MoodCraft using React.js and Tailwind CSS for the frontend. Drawing functionality is handled with the HTML Canvas API. We created a lightweight AI mood detection system that analyzes color usage and stroke behavior in real time. We also used FileSaver.js to allow artwork downloads.

Challenges we ran into

Creating mood detection logic that feels accurate and helpful without being too complex.

Making the canvas smooth and responsive for drawing.

Designing a calming yet engaging user interface that matches the theme of emotional wellness.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully integrating drawing tools with real-time mood detection.

Creating a smooth, expressive user experience in just a short time.

Building something that’s both useful and emotionally impactful.

What we learned

ow to capture and interpret user input in creative ways.

Designing with mental health in mind.

How to balance fun, art, and technology to make something meaningful.

What's next for Mood Craft

Improving AI accuracy with deeper machine learning models.
