Inspiration:
My inspiration for the Mood-Based Playlist web app stems from a profound desire to make a positive impact on people's mental health. With alarming statistics highlighting the increasing prevalence of stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges, I knew I had to create something special. I believe that music, positivity, and readily accessible resources can be powerful tools for healing and well-being.
What it does:
My Mood-Based Playlist web app offers a range of features designed to uplift and support individuals:
Mood-Enhancing Music: Users answer a mood-related question, and the app suggests a song and motivational message tailored to their emotional state. Music has a scientifically proven influence on our mood, making it a perfect tool for emotional well-being.
Personalized Playlists: Users can save their suggested songs in a personalized playlist, creating a reservoir of comfort and inspiration. In challenging moments, these playlists serve as a musical haven.
Positivity Game (Under Progress): I am working on an engaging game that encourages positivity. It will provide an interactive and fun way to boost mood and resilience.
Crisis Hotlines (Under Progress): Mental health support is crucial. I am building a comprehensive database of crisis hotlines from around the world, offering immediate assistance and a listening ear when needed most.
How we built it:
My project was brought to life through a combination of front-end technologies and creative design:
- Front-end Development: I utilized HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build the user interface and interactivity of the web app.
- Data Management: I leveraged localStorage and sessionStorage to store and manage playlists and user session data.
- Future Development: I have ongoing plans to develop the Positivity Game and Crisis Hotlines features, ensuring a well-rounded and supportive experience.
Challenges we ran into:
While working on this project, I encountered various challenges:
- Game Development: Crafting an engaging positivity game required careful planning and development, which is an ongoing effort.
- Data Collection: Gathering accurate and up-to-date crisis hotline information from diverse locations presented a significant challenge.
- User Experience: Creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface that seamlessly integrates all features demanded meticulous design.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:

- Mood-Based Suggestions: Successfully implementing the mood-based music suggestion system, providing users with personalized recommendations.
- Playlist Functionality: Developing a robust playlist feature, allowing users to curate their musical sanctuary.
- Mission-Driven: Keeping our mission of mental health support at the forefront of our project's development.
