Inspiration
Montreal parking signs and their very complicated conditions led us to try and find a way to simplify finding a parking spot. When driving, you don't always have the time to decipher these signs.
What it does
Symbols on the map indicate what the parking signs mean. When the user adds different filters, the symbols will switch in according to the conditions set. The map can also pin-point your current location which can help with finding nearby available parking areas or deciphering a sign that is confusing. There's also a description section to help decipher the codes we have in the pop-ups.
How we built it
We used GenAI(OpenAI) as a our co-worker to create this website together. We gave it our ideas and our program's logic issues, then it helped us to build the code that we then implemented into our file. We also asked it for help with coding bugs.
Challenges we ran into
We tried to use Grafana for the map but we could not customize it the way we wanted to. We also had issues with the enormous amount of data from the cvs files and had to cut down to just a certain area or the site would crash.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed the project:) We participated and worked on our first hackathon!
What we learned
Learned about Grafana and Leaflet for interactive maps. We learned how to design prompts to efficiently use GenAi.
