Inspiration My daughter and I are originally from Atlanta but I am teaching abroad in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting us tremendously. My daughter is 12 years old and can directly relate to the children in the book because she misses her friends and school. My family is back in Atlanta and the pandemic has also had a large impact on their life. Life without family and friends is hard. and the anxiety that comes with is can affect all ages.

What it does Monster Covid tells a story of two children trying to understand what is happening in the world with the Covid-19 pandemic.

How I built it My daughter and I just expressed how she felt in two younger characters in the book.

Challenges I ran into It was a bit of a challenge to illustrate the book in the E-Book format.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of I am proud of writing this book with my daughter. She has been really struggling with the transition of no school and social distancing. I adopted her when she was two and we have always had a very large support system, so it is very hard not being able to go home and be with family and friends.

What I learned is that all ages are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and it is important to be mindful that kids have the same anxiety feelings as adults.

What's next for Monster Covid & Colin and Cori's 19 Friends we plan to publish our book and share it with all the elementary schools in Atlanta to help remember and understand this monumental time in history.
