We were inspired to create this game which also gives information about COVID-19. This inspiration came to us through learning about the misinformation floating around the Internet. We think that having correct information is extremely important, which is why we built a game giving true and up-to-date information about COVID-19. We decided to create a game to entertain the user, which will enhance the learning experience. Moreover, we designed our game this way so that the entire family is able to play and learn at the same time. Even though we are unable to contribute as much as other people, we still wanted to help in any way possible and we believed that this was the best way.
Through our design and creation process, we learned a lot. Firstly, we learned a lot about COVID-19 and how different countries are being affected by it. In addition to that, we also learned about the different ways in which COVID-19 has affected the world, such as stock market crashes, lack of medical supplies, and the amount of death that is occurring daily. Moreover, we learned about the different ways that can prevent COVID-19, which is important as it will lessen the burden on doctors as we will stay safe. Furthermore, we learned about the misinformation floating around the Internet as we wanted to clear up the misconceptions through our game. We also learned how to cooperate and work as a team while not being physically together, which will be important in our daily lives now.
We build our app on IntelliJ using Java. During the process of building this app, we learned the importance of naming because at the beginning we did not think that the file would be so large, as a result, we did random naming likewise naming a variable “a” and naming a function get() instead of stating what it is directly. Moreover, we learned about condensing our code, so it saves a bit of run-time and reduces the amount of lines each function takes up. This was easier for us to debug and double-check if the logic makes sense or not.
