Getting students started in entry-level computer science courses is often harder than it should be. Before they can begin learning, many need to install editors, compilers, extensions, and other tools across a wide range of devices and operating systems. That setup process takes time and creates an unnecessary barrier at the start of a class.

Browser-based coding platforms helped simplify this by giving students a ready-to-use environment. As those tools changed direction, many schools were left without a simple, accessible option built for introductory coursework.

This project addresses that gap with an open-source, locally hosted web IDE designed for educational use. Schools can run it on their own servers and provide students with a consistent coding environment through the browser. That means faster onboarding, less class time spent on setup, and a smoother starting point for beginners.

The goal is to make early computer science education more accessible, practical, and sustainable. Students can focus on learning core concepts, instructors can spend more time teaching, and schools can maintain control over the tools they use.
