Inspiration
I have been trying to lose weight and was told that calorie trackers help a lot but all the ones I find on the App Store are all subscription based or ad filled so I wanted to make my own simple one that syncs across all my Apple devices.
What it does
You set your daily calorie limit and log what you eat to try and stay in a deficit. There is also a library of past entries that make it easier to add food that you tend to eat a lot. Also it keeps all your logged data synced across your Apple devices that use the same iCloud account.
How we built it
I built it all in SwiftUI with some design inspiration from Claude Design.
Challenges we ran into
After iterating the design with Claude I made the design and flow of the app as simple as I could.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Using RevenueCat for a tip feature in lieu of showing ads the app had its first donation in the first month. Hopefully adding features there will be more to come.
What we learned
Organically growing the app needs more than just being listed on the App Store so I am going to work and see what I can do to grow the userbase.
What's next for Monohealth
Adding features to make the app a better weight loss/calorie tracking tool ie. HealthKit integrations for weight, widgets, etc.
