Inspiration
Life can be taxing and every now and then, we need a break or a friend to talk to. For this reason, we created an AI Monkey pet to uplift people's moods by engaging in conversation with them.
What it does
It uses vocal recognition to respond to the user's commands. This is to simulate a conversation with another being. MonkAI can hold simple conversations with commands like "Hi", "Hello", and "How are you?"
How we built it
We built MonkAI using Javascript, CSS, HTML
Challenges we ran into
- Hosting the site locally
- Setting up multiple language videos for MonkAI's response to user
- Implementing the AI element of having a conversation with MonkAI
- Getting MonkAI to respond to commands
- Figuring out ways to implement the vocal response of MonkAI
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We successfully implemented voice recognition
- We successfully implemented MonkAI engaging in simple conversation in multiple languages
What we learned
- We learned the importance of perseverance and the benefit of allowing your creativity to run free
- We practiced our software engineering skills by integrating a voice recognition package into our program
- We learned about voice recognition systems
- We learned about hosting data on web servers
What's next for MonkAI
- Smoothen out conversation to make it feel more natural
- Update vocabulary and language options
- Enable conversation in multiple languages
- Fix response time
- Get it to recognize more ranges in voice loudness
- Get it to isolate voices from background noise
- Implementing a dictionary to allow for a wider variety of conversations
- Customize voices
