Inspiration

There is a dearth of platforms where you can learn investing. You have to actually invest with your money and that can be risky if someone does not have any prior experience. Our team wanted to address this challenge by creating an interactive game, which makes the learning experience fun and interesting and involves communication.

What it does

Our project addresses the challenge by providing an interactive simulation game from real-world examples where you trade(either buy or sell) the number of stocks that you wish and see the progress through a period of multiple days and months.

How we built it

We took examples from fantasy league games and Football Manager which simulates football market buying patterns. We have used python for most of the data cleaning and processing. The Backend of the project is also written in Python and the frontend is written over react framework.

Challenges we ran into

  • This was some of our team members' first hackathon and some of us didn't have that clear understanding of the technologies used.
  • We had a large amount of data that needed processing.
  • Data cleaning and parsing part were time-consuming and took a lot of time.
  • We had to find optimal ways to visualize and present data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We were able to complete it within the stipulated time.
  • We collaborated to come up with the idea to work for this project and collaborated to debug and solve issues.

What we learned

  • there are problems lying in plain sight, what anyone needs is motivation to solve and not think about challenges.
  • persevere through tough times when something is not working and is frustrating.

What's next for Monie Money Monie

  • adding functionality for stock loss limit
  • notifications when the stock value drops over a particular point
  • adding inline chat options.
