Inspiration

Problem: Millions of everyday Australians struggle with financial stress. Mounting debt, missed entitlements, confusing bills, and no affordable help. Professional financial advice costs hundreds of dollars per hour and is out of reach for most families.

Solution: MoneyRescue is a free-to-start AI-powered financial guidance tool built specifically for everyday Australians. It helps users understand their financial position, find money they are leaving on the table, navigate hardship, and take real action. All in plain English with no jargon and no judgment.

What it does

1) Financial Picture: Map every income source and expense, normalised to monthly figures with a full cashflow summary. 2) Claim and Save: Analyse bills for incorrect charges, find government entitlements, reduce bank fees, compare insurance, and understand credit reports. 3) Hardship Help: AI-drafted contact scripts for banks, energy companies, telcos, landlords, and the ATO. 4) Side Income Generator: Personalised income ideas based on your skills, availability, and location. 5) Budget Planner: Auto-populated from your financial picture using the 50/30/20 rule. 6) Action Plan: AI-generated personalised recovery roadmap based on everything entered. 7) Know Your Rights: Plain English summaries of Australian consumer rights across banking, energy, telco, and rent.

How I built it

MoneyRescue is a single-file HTML, CSS, and JavaScript application with direct Anthropic Claude AI integration. No external frameworks, no backend server. Built entirely using AI-assisted development within the Claude artifact platform.

The tool includes a full admin panel for managing user profiles, access codes, partner offers, insurer lists, and feedback. This gives the operator complete control without touching code.

Challenges I ran into

1) Designing a multi-user system with per-client data isolation within a single storage pool. 2) Making complex financial concepts feel simple and non-intimidating. 3) Building AI prompts that give specific, actionable Australian-context responses rather than generic advice. 4) Ensuring appropriate disclaimers throughout without making the tool feel cold or corporate.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

1) Built a fully functional, multi-tab, AI-powered financial tool as a solo builder in under two weeks. 2) Designed a complete admin panel with user management, access codes, and feature controls without any backend server. 3) Created a tool that gives everyday Australians access to the kind of financial clarity that usually costs hundreds of dollars per hour. 4) Made AI responses feel specific and Australian rather than generic and textbook. 5) The tool runs without any API key or API costs to the operator. Users simply need a free Claude account to access full AI functionality. 6) Built something I personally needed and would actually use.

What I learned

Building a production-quality tool in under two weeks using AI-assisted development is genuinely possible when you are clear on the problem you are solving. The hardest part was not the code. It was making real financial guidance feel human, accessible, and trustworthy for people who are already stressed.

What's next for MoneyRescue

1) Per-client feature flags for premium features. 2) API access option for users without a Claude account. 3) Custom domain and public launch. 4) Expanding the tool with more Australian-specific financial guidance areas.
