Inspiration

I'm Dr. Mini Bhalla, a dentist with 20+ years of clinical experience running Dental clinic in India. I'm also a mother of two. I can diagnose complex dental problems and perform intricate procedures, but I couldn't figure out how to understand, manage money, save for emergencies, or plan for the future.

Then I saw Rebecca Louise's brief for the RevenueCat Shipyard hackathon. She described a problem I live every single day: busy moms are short on time, short on financial knowledge, and desperate for independence , but they're drowning in generic financial apps that assume they have hours to learn.

I realized something: I don't need to be a software engineer to solve this problem. I need to be a mom who understands the problem. So I did something crazy, as i knew Ai can code so i researched about some platforms, learnt and used vibecodeapp.com to code.

What It Does

MoneyMom is the financial management app. It's not another budget tracker that makes you feel guilty. It's not another investing app that assumes you understand derivatives. It's three powerful things:

1. Money-Saving Tips with Goals Tracking

  • 50+ actionable money-saving tips organized by category
  • Goals tracking: Set a savings target, track progress toward it
  • Real tips for real moms: Meal planning, batch cooking, reducing utility costs, smart shopping strategies, home maintenance savings
  • Tips work globally for any mom anywhere
  • Actionable, immediate, and measurable

2. Investing Education (10 Lessons)

  • Beginner-friendly lessons: Why invest, compound interest, ISAs/401Ks, stocks vs funds, how to start, risk tolerance, common mistakes, portfolio building
  • No jargon, no overwhelm—just practical knowledge
  • Each lesson takes 3-7 minutes
  • Progress tracking so you feel like you're actually learning something

3. Receipt Scanning + Budget Tracking

  • Scan receipts to automatically log expenses
  • Track spending by category
  • Unique feature: Kids budget tracking
  • The only app that help you understand financial things and save money

How I Built It

I built MomMoney using Vibecode.app-an AI-powered platform that made it possible for someone with zero coding experience to create a professional iOS app.

My Workflow:

  1. Defined the problem by reading Rebecca Louise's brief
  2. Designed the solution with 3 core features: tips + goals tracking, investing education, and receipt scanning
  3. Used Vibecode prompts to generate the entire app architecture, UI, and functionality
  4. Integrated RevenueCat SDK for monetization and subscription management
  5. Built the questionnaire engine to collect user data and personalize recommendations
  6. Deployed to TestFlight for testing and App Store preparation

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: React Native (via Vibecode)
  • Backend: Vibecode Cloud
  • Monetization: RevenueCat
  • Deployment: Testflight

Timeline: Built in 4 weeks, working 1-2 hours daily alongside my dental practice

Challenges We Ran Into

Challenge 1: Imposter Syndrome I kept thinking, "Who am I to build an app? I'm a dentist, not a developer." But then I realized-that's exactly why I'm qualified. I understand the pain point because I live it every day.

Challenge 2: Learning Curve Understanding iOS development, RevenueCat SDK, app submission process, and deployment was overwhelming. But breaking it into small steps made it manageable. Vibecode's AI guidance was invaluable.

Challenge 3: Time Management Balancing my dental practice (40+ hours/week), two kids, and app development seemed impossible. But I discovered that 1 hour of focused work daily is more powerful than I ever imagined.

Challenge 4: Feature Prioritization I wanted to build location-specific shopping data, real-time price comparisons, and location-based recommendations. But I realized: done is better than perfect. I focused on features that actually matter: goals tracking, receipt scanning, and investing education.

Why This Matters

MoneyMom isn't just another financial app. It's proof that the future of software isn't built by people with the most coding experience-it's built by people who understand the problem deeply and have the tools to solve it.

I understand the problem of busy moms and financial independence because I live it every single day. I have two kids. I run a business. I want my kids to understand money. I want financial security.

If a dentist from Meerut with zero coding experience can build a professional, monetizable app in 4 weeks using AI tools, imagine what's possible when we empower more women, more parents, more people who see a problem and decide to solve it.

This hackathon isn't just about winning $20K. It's about proving that the barrier to entry for building software isn't talent or education or experience. It's courage.
