MoneyMentor

Inspiration

Our project originated from the aspiration to eliminate the financial barriers to financial resources and education faced by disadvantaged and underprivileged individuals. We automate learning and researching on financial topics just by talking it out!

What it does

MoneyMentor serves as a user-friendly financial guidance platform, offering personalized solutions to address a spectrum of financial questions. With intuitive tools and resources, users can gain insights into budgeting, investing, and managing various financial aspects to make informed decisions for their unique financial goals. All the user has to do is speak into the microphone, ask their question, and click the button to receive advice.

How we built it

Our webapp is built with a ReactJS front end and a backend that has OpenAI API integration as well as react-speech-recognition for our voice assistant.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into was the documentation of OpenAI changing as of recently. This led to issues on the API calls as the structure of the call itself changed recently and other features were deprecated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our full fledged application that can help those in need of financial education and resources.

What's next for MoneyMentor

MoneyMentor would be further trained on niche financial topics as well as provide articles by webscraping online to pregenerate questions for the user about a topic. By webscraping, Money Mentor can also provide real time financial news and a financial analysis based on those financial news as well.
