Inspiration

Low financial literacy can make it difficult to make the best use of financial services. We want to consolidate financial literacy information and the location of available financial service firms in order to help people without financial education make the best use of these services.

What it does

It allows people to search for financial service firms nearby in Delaware. It also aids in their understanding of what these financial services provide.

How we built it

We used Python + Quart for the backend and Javascript + React for the frontend. We thought this tech stack would have very high velocity. We used Docker to make hosting the application extremely easy.

Challenges we ran into

We initially struggled to find a complete dataset of all the financial service firms in Delaware. Connecting the backend and frontend was difficult because we needed to use asynchronous code in React.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The location of each service is visible on a map that you can zoom into and out of. We are also proud of the financial literacy cheat sheet because it contains a lot of very valuable and practical information.
