Inspiration
We were inspired by the Durhack sponsor challenges to make an app that made a difference. We wanted to make something for social good through making a website that promoted the growth of trees!
What it does
Gives every user their very own tree! They can take care of their tree by watering and feeding it which rewards the user with our very own cryptocurrency leaves. Leaves can be freely transferred between accounts and are used to grow your tree.
How we built it
We used a carbon negative blockchain, Herdera, to build this crypto token. We then used React to make a webpage that displayed our intended tree growing interface.
Challenges we ran into
We hadn't used Herdera before, so building this blockchain was a time-taking task. But it was important to us to maintain our goal and implement this blockchain in as sustainable a way as possible.

We learned how to collaborate effectively and that taking breaks can increase efficiency.
What's next for Money-Trees
We want to actually make the Donate button work with a charity, so that the currency can fund them to plant a tree every time somone clicks that button. We also want to integrate the transfer function with multiple user accounts so that you can transfer leaves to an intended address rather than a random one.
