Inspiration
We were inspired by the environmental problems in Indonesia. Indonesia is very susceptible to floods and they occur often. Tree cover helps the soil constantly absorb water during rain, but trees are frequently chopped down, which is why floods happen so often.
What it does
Money Tree$ is a mobile app that allows users to support tree-planting projects in Indonesia. Users can choose how much they want to contribute and immediately see the impact their contribution could support. Once you donate Rp10,000, we will plant a tree. Users can select a region in Indonesia to plant their tree, and can also see community impact.
We decided to use this approach because even a small donation can feel meaningful, especially for young people who don't own a lot of money. It focuses on small, accessible contributions that make the impact visible.
How we built it
We used Figma to design and create the whole project.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was creating a prototype within a limited margin of time. We had to pick out our ideas and decide which feature was necessary for our app.
What we learned
We learned how to take an idea and turn it into a functional app prototype using Figma. We also learned that good design is not just about making an app look attractive, it needs to make the user's actions and their impact easy to understand. Working with a limited amount of time also taught us how to prioritize the most important features.
