We wanted to make it easier for travelers to understand what they're buying and how much it costs.
What it does
This web app uses Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services to analyze an image that the user uploads and returns the names of objects present in the image, so the user can know the names of products they're unfamiliar with. It also provides a currency converter so the user can see what prices translate to in their own currency.
How we built it
We started off by learning how to use Microsoft Azure and building the core functionality of the app using Python. We then put everything together using flask to run the app.
Challenges we ran into
Using flask to make the web app was difficult because no one on our team had experience using flask before. We were able to learn what we needed to and got it working, but it took a lot longer than it would have if we had experience using flask beforehand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to use Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services to analyze images and translate text.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Microsoft Azure. None of our team knew how to develop apps using Microsoft Azure before this project, so we needed to learn a lot before we could even start working.
