Inspiration
We wanted to create a simple and engaging project that would not only be accessible, but applicable for kids.
What it does
This web app lets kids input their income and purchase goals while also learning important, basic concepts about finance. At the end, we calculate and output how long they need to save to reach each goal while also giving them a little surprise gift.
How we built it
We built this using vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Additionally, we live hosted the static site. The link to reach this live host is here: https://money-monsters.onrender.com/
Challenges we ran into
Problems we had were sizing of elements, getting a coherent color palette, and connecting each part of the lesson.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to follow a basic product timeline performing actions like sketching and creating a foundation that we were easily able to build off of. Additionally, we as a team were able to adequately communicate and delegate making things run smoothly. We, of course, are very proud of the final product.
What we learned
We learned about iframes in HTML and their applications. A handful of us also learned new languages we had not yet learned before. Additionally, this project helped strengthen our weak spots in web development whether that is front end or back end.
What's next for Money Monsters Child Financial Tool
With more time, we'd like to add some more finishing touches as well as making the site mobile friendly.
