Inspiration
We wanted to create an app that allows user to become more financially literate. Unfortunately, many people do not understand enough about money and how investing works. With our website, that all changes.
What it does
Users can view the live stock market, create a dynamic stock portfolio complete with a graph to allow you to see how your money is moving, see your expenses individualized by bank, and view the latest news in the finance world.
How we built it
We built this website using HTML, JS, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into quite a few challenges regarding functionality and getting things to work exactly how we wanted. Specifically, getting the API's to work were difficult. We had to cut some features out and add smaller ones to accommodate our workflow.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of how are app turned out. We have attended a couple of hackathons in the past and this is by far our most advanced and finalized app we've created. We hope that translate into a win.
What we learned
We learned a lot about API's and some new CSS features.
What's next for Money Mentor
We hope to continue building on this app and add new features such as including Artificial Intelligence within the budgeting section of the app so that it may give recommendations on how to save some money.
