Inspiration

Keeping up with finances, is very important but at times can take more time than I would like, managing school and work can take up my entire day without even thinking about it.

What it does..

Money buddy is a web based application that allows the user to enter various financial related pieces of information, as well as a bank statement in CSV format. Then using one of the latest and greatest open source LLM, Alpaca-2 7B. Your own finance-finetuned AI assistant can keep you on track and aligned with you finances, all you need to do is chat with it and it will use the data your provide to guide you toward the right financial track. The best part of all, is every thing in this project is self hosted, all the data is managed end to end by us.

How we built it

Our frontend is built with a cross platform framework call flutter using the dart programming language, the front end communicates with FastAPI endpoints programmed in python on a digital ocean web server. The FastAPI endpoints will then communicate to our finetuned LLama-2-7B LLM model which is running on an AWS server that has more a capable GPU to handle the demanding nature of self hosting large language models .

Challenges we ran into

Finetuning from scratch the Llama-2-7B was very tedious and time consuming, but was well worth it in the end as our model preforms just like we wanted it to. Other issues arose with the flutter state management system, which can be a times very tedious, but as well was very worth it in the end as our front end provides may important and use full data point to the end user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our self proclaimed 2 team army , managed to accomplish a lot in our eyes in very little time. But in the end we managed to achieve everything we wanted an maybe more.
