The idea is to save money. A customer has to struggle with where to go shopping when there are multiple outlets available. This website will provide the details of the cheapest outlet nearby
Inspiration : I always had confusion about which outlet to go to for grocery shopping whenever I stepped out from my house. There was always a better deal available at some other store so I used to go and compare price of every store before purchasing the items. This would waste a alot of time
What it does : It will basically give the customer/ user the best deals available at the nearby stores. The user may select the outlet as per his/ her choice and after the approx time will be shown depending on the traffic on website for that particular store. Also the store will get an alert of expecting a new customer.
How we built it: I have used Python as a backend and then I will be storing everything in AWS RDS. I have used React for front end.I will also be using EC2, Redshift and AWS S3 bucket along with cluoudfront. Everything is stored in AWS S3 bucket
Challenges we ran into: Initially, first version of the search was just a Postgres database query which wasn't efficient, and then I moved over to ElasticSearch, but then I spend a lot of time figuring out how to put it all together to add stemming, auto suggestions, all kinds of different things, like even spelling adjustments that would return different results,
Accomplishments that we're proud of : Elastic search made searching and querying so easy
What we learned : I didnt have much idea about Memcache and I have researched alot and got to know many aspects of it. Along with that I got to learn about Rails, Firebase, Jenkins, Heroku etc.
What's next for Money 4 U : Next steps would be building an app for both IOS and Android and then adding more features like premium customers will be given priority, 3D view of the stores to help customers find the aisle, maximum deals unlocking depending on their purchase, adding a call feature to it, using drone picking those items and delivering it to the customers
