Inspiration

Children learn best through play, emotion, and connection—but many digital experiences for kids are either overstimulating or purely instructional. We were inspired to create a gentle, emotionally intelligent AI companion that feels like a real friend, not just an app. Momo’s Playroom was born from the idea that technology can nurture empathy, confidence, and joy when designed with a child-first mindset.

What it does

Momo’s Playroom is a joyful, safe, AI-powered mobile app for young children, featuring Momo the Monkey, an interactive companion who learns and grows alongside the child.

Key features include:

Touch-based interactions (taps, giggles, hugs)

Emotional mirroring to help children recognize feelings

Voice mimic mode to encourage speech development

Real-time AI conversations with age-appropriate responses

Smart, context-aware animations and reactions

Multilingual support (English, Telugu, Hindi)

Educational mini-games focused on good habits, politeness, music, and movement

All experiences are designed to feel playful, warm, and emotionally supportive.

How we built it

Momo’s Playroom was built using modern, performance-focused technologies:

React 19 for UI architecture

Tailwind CSS for clean, scalable styling

Framer Motion for smooth animations

Real-time voice AI for speech interaction and conversation

Procedural SVG character design for expressive, lightweight animations

We combined AI logic with thoughtful UX design to ensure interactions feel natural, friendly, and safe for children.

Challenges we ran into
