Our team has always harbored a deep interest in leveraging technology to benefit societal health and well-being. When we delved into the complexities faced by women with gestational diabetes, it was a revelation. These strong, resilient women face a myriad of health challenges daily, including long-term risks to their own health and their baby’s.

Understanding their plight made us ponder - what if there was a way to harness technology to offer them a simplified solution? This thought gave birth to GestationalCare, our ambitious project that seeks to transform women's health by improving pregnancy outcomes. The aim is clear: create a seamless digital tool to combat gestational diabetes, to empower these women, and `ensure their and their baby’s wellbeing.

Dr. Musleh's insights especially stood out - the hurdles in compliance with logging blood sugar values. We felt the urgency and need to make this crucial process simpler, thereby improving prognosis significantly.

🤖 What it does

GestationalCare offers a twofold solution:

Blood Sugar Monitoring: Allows users to effortlessly log and monitor their blood sugar values. This real-time data helps healthcare professionals to keep a watchful eye and make informed decisions regarding the patient’s health. Staying Active: Through our internally hosted workout tool, we guide users through safe and effective exercises tailored for pregnant women. This not only helps in managing blood sugar levels but also ensures overall physical wellness during pregnancy. Furthermore, our future vision includes integrating AI/ML for personalized care plans, recipe recommendations, and real-time feedback on blood sugar levels, making the app more user-centric.

🧠 How we built it

Planning and Ideation: Diving deep into understanding gestational diabetes and its challenges set the foundation. Front-End Development: Our app interface is crafted using the Chakra UI framework and React. This combination promises a user-friendly, intuitive interface. Back-End Development: Powered by Node.js, OpenCV, and Python runtimes, our back-end ensures the seamless functioning of the app and its features. Feedback Integration: With continuous feedback from healthcare professionals, especially those like Dr. Musleh, we enhanced our app to better suit the needs of its users.

🧩 Challenges we ran into

Deciding on the right tech stack and integrating them cohesively. Ensuring the app is user-friendly for a demographic not necessarily tech-savvy. Collating accurate and diverse data for our future AI/ML integration.
