Inspiration
Wanting to find time to hangout with friends in an easier way. Applications like when2meet make it difficult to import times and find good overlap between friends.
What it does
Syncs with google calendar to create a calendar between friends/groups to find times where they can hangout.
How we built it
We used react, google calendar api, and supabase. React handles the front end while the backend uses the google calendar api and supabase DB to create the backend. Backend handles the user profiles, friends, groups, schedules, and calendars.
Challenges we ran into
We needed to figure out how calendars worked between people who may be friends with one person but not with each other who were in the same group. How did we handle their privacy of their calendar with people they don't know that well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the frontend design which helps show the main functionality of the application. Which was reflective of the backend work we did, it showed how we properly synced with google accounts and had a manageable database.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how databases work and the impact that they have in projects that involve large social applications.
What's next for moment
We want to implement interests and different modes. These features would heavily increase the connections between mutual friends as well tie into professionalism with a dedicated 'work mode'.
