Inspiration

One year ago, I saw famers protesting against stubbles that is the waste material which is left after harvesting a crop. It was a devastating sight and an eye sore for me . Hence, the creation of project MOKSH took place.

What it does

picture this: vast farmlands stretching as far as the eye can see, lush and green. It's a vision of agricultural abundance. However, come post-harvest season, these fields transform into a battleground against stubble waste. Farmers, traditionally left with no option, resort to stubble burning, releasing noxious fumes into the air. This is where Project Moksh steps in.

Moksh, our innovative solution, utilizes cutting-edge technology to tackle the stubble waste crisis like never before. Here's how it works:

  1. Satellite Intelligence: We tap into high-resolution satellite imagery to identify fields where stubble burning is likely to occur. Our AI algorithms process historical data, weather forecasts, and crop rotation patterns to predict the hotspots in advance.

  2. Real-time Monitoring: We install IoT devices and drones equipped with advanced sensors to monitor crop fields in real-time. These devices collect data on stubble accumulation, soil conditions, and weather parameters, feeding this information into our system.

  3. Machine Learning Magic: Our ML models analyze the data collected and create predictive models that forecast the best time and method for stubble disposal, whether it's through mulching, incorporation, or conversion into valuable biochar.

  4. Farmer-Friendly App: We provide farmers with a user-friendly mobile app that suggests optimal stubble management strategies based on their specific field conditions. This app empowers farmers with knowledge and provides financial incentives for sustainable practices.

  5. Biochar Production: Stubble waste that cannot be incorporated into the soil is converted into biochar, a valuable soil amendment, using a state-of-the-art biochar reactor. This biochar can be sold as a sustainable agricultural product, generating additional income for farmers.

  6. Reducing Carbon Footprint: By eliminating stubble burning and promoting sustainable practices, Moksh drastically reduces the carbon footprint of agriculture, making it more environmentally friendly.

  7. Data-Driven Policy Insights: We collaborate with government bodies and environmental agencies, providing them with comprehensive data and insights to shape policies that further incentivize sustainable farming practices.

Outcomes:

  • Clean Air: Reduced stubble burning leads to cleaner air, healthier communities, and fewer respiratory problems.
  • Increased Farm Income: Farmers benefit from additional income sources through biochar production and sustainable practices.
  • Environmental Stewardship: We contribute to the fight against climate change by reducing carbon emissions and improving soil health.

How I built it

By leveraging AI, Machine Learning, and Satellite Data and using open government database for accurate data.

Challenges I ran into

Integrating backend and building proper APIs .Finding solution for how to connect with farmers.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • Clean Air: Reduced stubble burning leads to cleaner air, healthier communities, and fewer respiratory problems.
  • Increased Farm Income: Farmers benefit from additional income sources through biochar production and sustainable practices.
  • Environmental Stewardship: We contribute to the fight against climate change by reducing carbon emissions and improving soil health.

Project Moksh is not just a solution; it's a movement towards a sustainable, clean, and prosperous future for agriculture. By leveraging AI, Machine Learning, and Satellite Data, we are taking stubble waste management to a level never seen before. We invite you to join us in this groundbreaking initiative to transform the way we manage stubble waste. Together, we can achieve the impossible and bring about the 'Moksh' (salvation) our environment desperately needs.

What I learned

I learned about new APIs and what wonders AI can perform.

What's next for MOKSH

We can provide this project to the government and help them solve this huge problem of stubble management as the government has the data of all the farmers of all areas.
