Inspiration

As a group of college students, most of us rely on caffeine. But we wanted to create something to help us and others reduce over-reliance on caffeine on a daily basis.

What it does

The app takes in your age and weight on account creation, so that it can calculate your recommended daily caffeine intake. Then, you can add the amount of caffeine you drank to compare it day by day to the your recommended amount.

How we built it

We built it using a MERN stack, with a touch of python for data analysis, and using Vite for ease of use. Source control was managed through github branches, and working with pull requests to maintain a safe main branch.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges mostly came with the final step of the project. Once we figured out all of our separate tasks (i.e the graph, the data analysis, or the backend api's), it was time to combine all of the parts together across files and directories.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're very proud of the front-end that came out of this project, even with the lack of knowledge in our team with the front-end. Also, the API's to request from MongoDB were really easy to use and we're proud of each of our individual efforts!

What we learned

We learned about React, API's and taking from Datasets. Along with learning even more about how github can be used to enforce safe version control. We also learned about what it's like to work as a team for a project development, and how managing our abilities is very important to how efficient we can be!

What's next for Mojo Monitor

There are so many fascinating ideas that we are planning to add:

  1. Target Goals for yourself, along with the already added recommended caffeine intake.

  2. Challenges with friends to compete for who has the lowest weekly caffeine intake.

  3. Feedback onto why it's dangerous or more healthy to change your caffeine intake.

and so many more! This app is not done being brewed in the slightest, and we can't wait to see where it goes!
