Inspiration
I knew I needed something useful in the future, so I thought up Mogus Fighter. Keeping the future in mind, the game lets kids and the new generations who would be in space stimulate, train and mentally prepare for a fight in space while still being fun for kids.
What it does
Mogus Fighter is a turn based fighter game which focuses on abilities as moves. Players can choose from a roster of characters to fight with. Characters abilities differ depending on their skillset and personality. Last one standing wins.
How we built it
Mogus Fighter was coded using JavaScript in Code.org's studio with its tools.
Challenges we ran into
Character creation and balancing were exponentially more difficult as the project grew.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The game! We love how the beta turned out, and the combat is already fun during playtesting with friends.
What we learned
With the creation of Mogus Fighter, we learned a lot about how to develop an app, startup restrictions and development priorities. Starting off, we were extremely optimistic about the game and wanted to get a lot done really quickly. However, we realised that wouldn't work and we had to scale down our expectations. This learning experience was very valuable, as now we understood how to get a small scale working product first before fleshing out its features.
What's next for Mogus Fighter
As it is still in beta, we have a lot planned if the initial impression is good. We want to add a ton more characters, double character skills from 2 to our original 4, go international with an elo ladder, and improve the visual graphics of the game.
