Inspiration

ModShield AI was created to make everyday digital safety easier to understand. People often receive suspicious links and phishing messages without knowing which warning signs matter or what to do next.

What it does

ModShield AI is a defensive cybersecurity assistant simulation that assesses suspicious messages and links, assigns a clear risk level, explains the warning signs, and recommends safer next steps. It does not open submitted links or collect credentials.

How we built it

We built a lightweight interactive web simulation with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, supported by an open-source Python assistant prototype. The interface focuses on a simple conversational flow, readable risk results, privacy-aware guidance, and security education.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was giving useful security guidance without encouraging unsafe interaction with suspicious content. We designed the experience to explain risk signals while keeping the analysis defensive and privacy-conscious.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We completed an interactive end-to-end demo, created a clear risk-assessment flow, published the source code and documentation, and produced a short public video demonstration.

What we learned

We learned that security tools are most useful when they translate technical warning signs into clear actions that ordinary users can follow quickly and confidently.

What's next for ModShield AI

Next, we plan to expand the detection rules, improve explainability, add multilingual guidance, and connect the conversational experience to production-ready assistant integrations.
