Inspiration
Looking at the challenge presented by IT uOttawa, we decided to face the challenge, inspired to build a project that provided a solution. With our limited experience and our first hackathon, the need to build a web app that functions (at least) to solve the problem.
What it does
Web app that compares and outputs different large language models metrics that may be useful to differentiate between them.
How we built it
we used Javascript, CSS, HTML, and NodeJS to build the front and back end of the web app. APIs from LLM were used in order to compare to each other.
Challenges we ran into
Our inexperience made it difficult to integrate the frontend and backend smoothly. Rate limits and acquisition of API keys made it difficult to proper test our application. There was also an unclear role division and misaligned decisions that were made due to some miscommunication.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we build a functional and aesthetically pleasing project. We are also proud of the skills that were picked up during the hackathon that allowed us to build a proper web app.
What we learned
We learned how to use nodeJS as well as a deeper understanding into JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. In addition, we learned how to integrate AI its API into our code.
What's next for Model Matchup
We are planning to add more features to the web app that would make it more usable and aesthetically pleasing.
