Mod Bot

Inspiration

Before modreg begins, many of your telegroups will inevitably get spammed with "Who is taking CSxxxx?", "Anyone looking for group mates?", etc. Sometimes, some kind hearted people will prepare a google sheets for everyone to see and find other group members. We aim to make this process of finding groupmates / people to take tutorial together through a telegram bot.

What it does

Students interact with the telegram bot and input the mods that you want to take. For each of the mods, a student can look at all the groups that are still looking for members, and the student can express interest in joining that group With just a few press of buttons, group leaders can accept the students that they want into their group. Voila, your group is formed without you having to ask friends of friends of friends whether their groups have space!

How We built it

We used Google Apps Script to communicate with our telebot, and store data onto our google sheets (which acts as our database)

Challenges We ran into

It was tough for 4 people working together remotely and learning how to code telegram bot and implementing it within 24 hours!

We are proud of the fact that we are 4 people working together remotely and learning how to code telegram bot and implementing it within 24 hours!

What We learned

importance of working remotely and being able to communicate clearly and well across zoom/google meet. Covid has brought us into a new era where the dependence on f2f meetings has lessened. Learning to be productive in teams virtually is highly important!
