Inspiration

My inspiration came from seeing multiple posts on the r/AutoModerator subreddit from users asking how to formulate a rule and make it easier for mods to manage rules. I wanted to save some time for the Mods and make it easier to generate/edit/delete AutoMod rules.

What it does

An AI-powered AutoModerator assistant for Reddit. Automod 4 Me lets moderators write, update, and remove AutoModerator rules directly from Reddit's context menu — no YAML knowledge required.

How we built it

We built it using Devvit for our UI and OpenAI as our AI Provider to create the rules.

Challenges we ran into

Making sure we generate good rules that will achieve most of what the mod wants. We also had to make sure that the rules generated are using actual valid YAML fields that AutoMod can parse and apply.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is my first hackathon so hopefully it's a decent entry in the competition for my first time not knowing what to expect. I'm glad I was able to get a small app up and running in Mod Tools for Reddit.

What we learned

This was my first time using/learning about Devvit so it was a pretty interesting process. I also didn't know a lot on how Mod Tools work so it was cool to see how moderators manage subreddits.

What's next for Automod 4 Me

Nothing planned next unless some mods want a new feature.
