Inspiration

Preparing for competitive exams in India like SSC CGL and clearing the exam in 3rd attempt often means attempting hundreds of mock tests. Most platforms stop at showing marks and rankings, leaving students to figure out why they made mistakes and how to improve. While preparing myself and interacting with aspirants, I realized that students repeatedly make the same mistakes because existing platforms don't provide structured recovery after each mock. That inspired me to build MockInsight—an AI-powered Mocktest,Analysis and learning platform that transforms every incorrect answer into a personalized learning opportunity.

What it does

MockInsight goes beyond traditional mock analysis. It helps students: Analyze strengths and weaknesses. Understand the reason behind every mistake. Practice concept-based recovery questions. Track progress over time. Build confidence instead of repeatedly making the same errors.

The goal is not simply to show scores—it is to help students improve after every test.

How we built it

We built MockInsight as a Progressive Web App (PWA) using an AI-assisted development workflow. The project combines: OpenAI ChatGPT & Codex Firebase Authentication Firestore Database Razorpay Payment Integration Vercel Deployment Progressive Web App support Instead of writing every line of code manually, I focused on product design, learning science, user experience, testing, and validating features while using AI to accelerate development.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was ensuring that students receive meaningful learning instead of overwhelming analytics. Some of the key problems included: Designing an intuitive recovery workflow. Maintaining accurate SSC previous-year question data. Creating a clean and distraction-free interface. Building a scalable architecture for future exams. Balancing feature development, testing, and deployment within the hackathon timeline was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • 🚀 Built a functional AI-assisted Progressive Web App (PWA) for competitive exam aspirants within the hackathon timeline.
  • 🧠 Designed a unique Recovery Plan workflow that helps students learn from mistakes instead of only viewing scores.
  • 📚 Created an architecture focused on verified SSC Previous Year Questions to maintain trust and accuracy.
  • 📈 Successfully integrated user authentication, cloud data storage, subscription management, and online payments into a single platform.
  • 🎯 Designed MockInsight with scalability in mind so it can expand from SSC to Railways and other competitive examinations.
  • 👨‍💻 Built the project with the help of my partner A Kusumanjali while learning and iterating rapidly using AI tools.
  • 🌐 Successfully deployed the application online, making it accessible to real users for testing and feedback.
  • 💡 Demonstrated how AI can significantly accelerate product development while allowing even a duo builder to focus on solving real educational problems.

What we learned

This project taught us that AI is not only a coding assistant—it can dramatically accelerate product development when combined with clear product thinking and continuous iteration. I also learned how to convert educational challenges into practical AI-powered solutions that deliver measurable value to students.

What's next for MockInsight

The roadmap includes: Support for more competitive exams. Smarter AI-powered personalized study plans. Better learning analytics. Enhanced recovery recommendations. Faster previous-year paper onboarding. Features for educators and coaching institutes.

My vision is to make MockInsight a platform where every mock test becomes a stepping stone toward success—not just another score.
